Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover

Updated: Jan 29, 2022

I felt everything the characters felt.

"𝑁𝑜𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼'𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑚𝑦𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑜𝑓 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑚𝑒 𝑠𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑒." Colleen Hoover never fails to give me a story that I can't stop thinking out. Reminders of Him dis exactly that. I felt so much while reading. My heart broke for Kenna and I felt Ledger's struggle. After serving 5 years in prison, Kenna has one goal…..to meet the daughter she has never even seen. After arriving in town she walks into Ledger's bar. One look at Kenna has Ledger is intrigued. They have a connection….turns out this connection is not only on an attraction level as Kenna quickly realizes that Ledger has a connection to the one thing she wants. When Kenna shows up at her daughter's grandparents' house, Ledger quickly realizes who she is. Ledger's one goal is to protect and help raise his deceased best friend's daughter. "𝐺𝑟𝑢𝑑𝑔𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑣𝑦, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 ℎ𝑢𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡, 𝐼 𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑒𝑟." I'm not one to cry, but this book made me tear up. Reminders of Him is a story of forgiveness and grief. After getting to know Scotty through Kenna’s letters and Ledger's memories I grieved alongside them. When Kenna finally received the one thing she wished for, I felt the butterflies, anticipation, and excitement right along with her. Colleen Hoover is the only writer that seems to get to me so emotionally. I felt sadness, nervousness, but I also found happiness in the humor. Diem and her imaginative thinking was a delight and I just loved Lucy "Lady Diana". I laughed every time she saw Ledger…..and called him jerk (I can't spoil what she layer dubbed him). I felt the ups and downs alongside each of the characters….and didn't want the story to end. 4.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
